Best Window XP Shortcuts



Keyboard Shortcuts:


1. [Alt] and [Esc] Switch between running applications.
2. [Alt] and letter Select menu item by underlined letter.
3. [Ctrl] and [Esc] Open Program Menu.
4. [Ctrl] and [F4] Close active document or group windows.
5. [Alt] and [F4] Quit active application or close current window.
6. [Alt] and [-] Open Control menu for active document.
7. [Ctrl] Lft., Rt. arrow Move cursor forward or back one word.
8. [Ctrl] Up, Down arrow Move cursor forward or back one paragraph.
9. [F1] Open Help for active application.

10. Windows+M Minimize all open windows.
11. Shift+Windows+M Undo minimize all open windows.
12. Windows+F1 Open Windows Help.
13. Windows+Tab Cycle through the Taskbar buttons.
14. Windows+Break Open the System Properties dialog box.
15. Display or hide the Start menu. WIN Key.
16. Display the System Properties dialog box. WIN Key+BREAK
17. Show the desktop. WIN Key+D
18. Minimize all windows. WIN Key+M
19. Restores minimized windows. WIN Key+Shift+M
20. Open My Computer. WIN Key+E
21. Search for a file or folder. WIN Key+F

For Windows XP:


1. Copy. CTRL+C.
2. Cut. CTRL+X.
3. Paste. CTRL+V.
4. Undo. CTRL+Z.
5. Delete. DELETE.
6. Delete selected item permanently without placing the item in the Recycle Bin. SHIFT+DELETE.
7. Copy selected item. CTRL while dragging an item.
8. Create shortcut to selected item. CTRL+SHIFT while dragging an item.
9. Rename selected item. F2.
10. Move the insertion point to the beginning of the next word. CTRL+RIGHT .
11. ARROW
Move the insertion point to the beginning of the previous word. 
12. CTRL+LEFT ARROW
Move the insertion point to the beginning of the next paragraph. 
13. CTRL+DOWN ARROW
Move the insertion point to the beginning of the previous paragraph. 
14. CTRL+UP ARROW
15. Highlight a block of text. CTRL+SHIFT with any of the arrow keys
16. Select more than one item in a window or on the desktop, or select text within a document SHIFT with any of the arrow keys.             
17. Select all. CTRL+A.
18. Search for a file or folder. F3.
19. View properties for the selected item. ALT+ENTER.
20. Close the active item, or quit the active program. ALT+F4.
21. Opens the shortcut menu for the active window. ALT+SPACEBAR.
22. Close the active document in programs that allow you to have multiple documents open simultaneously. CTRL+F4.
23. Switch between open items. ALT+TAB.
24. Cycle through items in the order they were opened. ALT+ESC.
25. Cycle through screen elements in a window or on the desktop. F6.
26. Display the Address bar list in My Computer or Windows Explorer. F4.
27. Display the shortcut menu for the selected item. SHIFT+F10.
28. Display the System menu for the active window. ALT+SPACEBAR.
29. Display the Start menu. CTRL+ESC.
30. Activate the menu bar in the active program. F10.
31. Open the next menu to the right, or open a submenu. RIGHT ARROW.
32. Open the next menu to the left, or close a submenu. LEFT ARROW.
33. Refresh the active window. F5.
34. Cancel the current task. ESC.
35. SHIFT when you insert a CD into the CD-ROM drive Prevent the CD from Autoplay.


Acessability Shortcuts:


Right SHIFT for eight seconds........ Switch FilterKeys on and off.
Left ALT +left SHIFT +PRINT SCREEN....... Switch High Contrast on and off. 
Left ALT +left SHIFT +NUM LOCK....... Switch MouseKeys on and off. 
SHIFT....... five times Switch StickyKeys on and off. 
NUM LOCK...... for five seconds Switch ToggleKeys on and off.
